What is Busoga coffee and why is it significant?
Busoga is a region in Eastern Uganda, east of Jinja, within the Lake Victoria basin, and one of the original territories where wild Robusta coffee is indigenous to the land. Thena Estates is building Busoga into a named specialty coffee origin, Caffe Busoga, connecting this natural advantage to the international markets now paying premiums for traceable, single-estate Robusta.

What is Caffe Busoga?
Caffe Busoga is the long-term origin brand Thena Estates is building for Busoga Robusta, positioning it as a named specialty origin the way Bugisu Arabica is recognized internationally.
What does Uganda coffee taste like?
Thena Estates coffee is sun-dried natural, giving a full body with a sweet finish and notes of chocolate and red fruit. The natural process concentrates fruit sugars in the cup.
Is Uganda coffee Arabica or Robusta?
Uganda grows both. Thena Estates grows Robusta at Mayuge in the Lake Victoria basin, where Robusta is indigenous, while Uganda is also known for Arabica in higher-altitude regions such as Bugisu.
What makes Uganda coffee different?
Robusta is native to Uganda's Lake Victoria basin, so it grows in its original terroir. Thena Estates pairs that origin with traceable, single-estate production and a direct-trade model for roasters and wholesale buyers.
